Wildlife include black bear, whitetail deer, wild turkey, and
trout that thrive in this dense second growth forest. With more
than a half-million acres, the Allegheny National Forest is
considered a premier hunting and fishing destination. Containing
17 campgrounds with over 700 campsites (available on a
first-come, first-serve basis with reservations possible at the
larger campgrounds.
One of the most scenic routes through the Allegheny National
Forest is via the Longhouse Scenic Byway (Rt 262). The road begins
at the Kinzua Point Information Center (intersection of Rts 59
and Rt 262 about 13 mi E. of Warren) and loops 29 miles S. through the forest on Rts 262,
321, and 59. The Dewdrop Campground (74 sites) is located 3 mi S. of this intersection on Rt 262. The Kiasutha Campground (90 sites) is located 7 mi further South on Rt 262. Both campgrounds have boat ramps and can be reserved by contacting www.reserveusa.com

The 25 mile long Allegheny Reservoir has its origin at the 180
foot tall Kinzua Dam just east of Warren. The largest
beach on the reservoir is Kinzua Beach located 3 miles east of
the dam just across the Morrison Bridge at the intersections of
