State Park pier extending 730 feet into the Atlantic Ocean.
The Myrtle Beach coast encompasses one of the largest chains
of hotels, motels, restaurants, and amusement parks in the
country. The city's megacomplex extends 50 miles along the
Atlantic from Georgetown to Little River. Containing over 50,000
hotel rooms, 10,000 campsites, and 70 championship golf courses.
A paradise for campers, golfers, and families whose children will
revel in the excitement of the amusement parks. One of the top
five most popular resort cities on the East Coast.
Located just south of the city is the Myrtle Beach State Park.
It is South Carolina's largest with 350 campsites ($22/night Apr 1-Oct 31; $18/night Nov 1-Mar 31) nestled
in a thin pine forest. The campground has showers, laundry, water
and electrical hookups. There are numerous nature trails and one
of the largest fishing piers in the state. The new pier extends
730 feet into the ocean where fisherman catch mackerel, bluefish,
and kingfish in season. If the fish aren't biting, try the
seafood restaurants and oyster bars located at Murells Inlet
just S. of the park. The State Park also maintains five quaint
seashore cabins. Open year-round. Myrtle Beach State Park, 4401 South Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29575 (843) 238-5325. Myrtle Beach State Park
