A stunning combination of mountains, lakes, rivers, and forests greets visitors to the Wasatch National Forest. A popular National Forest located less than a half-hour from Salt Lake City. Mountains highlighted by alpine meadows and mirrored lakes are its premier feature. The old mining towns and scenic campgrounds (located in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons) will intrigue even seasoned travelers.

The Mirror Lake Scenic Byway (From Salt Lake City take Hwy 80 E. for 30 mi to Hwy 40. Go S. on Hwy 40 for 1 mi to Kamas exit. Go SE on Hwy 189 for 12 mi to Kamas. Turn E. on Hwy 150 which is the Scenic Byway). It winds through a heavily forested mountain terrain of ponderosa pine and aspen, past alpine meadows, to remote mountain lakes. Beginning at Kamas, the Byway proceeds 70 miles east and then north to the Wyoming border along Hwy 150. There are 25 campgrounds with hundreds of campsites located along the route. Many are situated on beautiful alpine lakes that mirror the surrounding mountains. Giving this road its name. Trout are found in most of the clear mountain streams and lakes.
